Sick ChildrenYoung Child Academy Policy June 1, 2001 Health officials have devised guidelines for excluding ill children from care. Children or staff, suffering from the following conditions, will not be allowed to remain at Young Child Academy until the symptoms subside: 1) Fever of 100 F under the arm, or higher. Children/staff may return after 24 hours without a fever. 2) Vomiting on two or more occasions within a 24 hour period. 3) Diarrhea of 3 or more watery stools within a 24 hour period. 4) Draining rash or sore. 5) Eye discharge or pinkeye. Children/staff may return after 24 hours on antibacterial treatment if the cause is determined to be bacterial. If it is viral, the infection must clear up before returning or there must be a written note from a licensed doctor indicating the infection is no longer contagious. 6) Lice or scabies. Admittance is possible after treatment and no nits are detected. 7) Fatigue which prevents the child from engaging in regular program activities. 8) A known communicable disease (e.g. Hand-foot-mouth disease, measles, etc). 9) An injury which prevents the child from partaking in normal program activities. We ask that children suffering with any of these described conditions not attend Young Child Academy because:
They are unable to fully participate in the activities of our daily program.
