    Reporting of Child Abuse Requirements

    Young Child Academy Policy
    June 1, 2001

Young Child Academy is required to report immediately any death, accident or illness of a child that requires medical treatment or hospitalization. This notification must be made by phone and in writing to the parent, center licensor and child's social worker.

Young Child Academy is required to report immediately an instance when we have reason to suspect the occurence of physical, sexual or emotional child abuse, child neglect or child exploitation. This notification must be made by phone to child protective services or to the local law enforcement agency.

Young Child Academy is required to report immediately an occurence of food poisoning or communicable disease to the local public health department. This notification must be made by phone and is mandated by the State Board of Health. When a communicable disease occurs, parents are also notified by phone and in writing.

These regulations are provided by the Department of Social and Health Services and are the minimum licensing requirements for child care centers. (WAC 388-150-480).
