    Meals and Snack


    Young Child Academy Policy

    Breakfast snack: (Provided by Young Child Academy)

    This is not intended to replace full breakfast served prior to arriving at school. This snack includes at least two different food items and will vary. Some possible choices include: dry cereal with milk, fruit and roll, banana or carrot muffin, sliced cheese with crackers, bagel with cream cheese, yougurt with grape-nuts or raisins, etc.

    Morning snack: (Provided by Young Child Academy)

    Similar to above but will post menu above sign-in table.

    Lunch: (Provided by family)

    We encourage a balanced, healthy selection including foods from each food group. A good example might be: tuna sandwich on wheat bread, carrot slices and yougurt. Please include a protien, a fruit or vegetable, a dairy item and a wholesome bread product. We discourage processed sweets and excessive carbohydrates (pretzels and chips). Candy, cakes and similar type treats will be sent home to be eaten at another time. In addition, no soda pop will be allowed.

    Afternoon snack: (Provided by Young Child Academy)

    Like breakfast, the afternoon snack will include at least two food group items. This can include fresh or canned fruits or vegeta bles, tortillas, cheese, nuts, peanut butter, yougurt, dried fruit, bread, apple butter, etc.
    Water is always available throughout the day. Milk is typically offered at snack and lunch. The exception is when snack includes a dairy item; then juice is offered. If your child requires a special beverage such as yogurt, dried fruit, bread, apple butter, etc.
